Da Nang in One Day: A Full-Day City Tour

Discover the best of Da Nang in one memorable day — from the peaceful Son Tra Peninsula and magnificent Linh Ung Pagoda to My Khe Beach, local markets, the famous pink church, Wonder Park, Dragon Bridge and the beautiful Han River waterfront.

Da Nang is one of Vietnam’s most enjoyable cities to explore in a day. It combines spectacular coastline, lush mountains, Buddhist culture, local markets and a modern riverside cityscape — all within a relatively easy distance of one another.

If you only have one full day in Da Nang, this itinerary gives you a great introduction to the city and its most interesting sights.

Morning: Son Tra Peninsula & Linh Ung Pagoda

Start your day with a trip to Son Tra Peninsula, one of Da Nang’s most beautiful natural areas.

The drive towards Son Tra is already part of the experience. As you climb the peninsula, the views become increasingly impressive, with the blue waters of the East Sea stretching along the coastline and Da Nang’s skyline visible in the distance.

One of the highlights of Son Tra is Linh Ung Pagoda, home to the enormous Lady Buddha statue, which stands approximately 67 metres high.

The statue overlooks the sea and has become one of the most recognizable landmarks in Da Nang.

Take some time to explore the pagoda grounds, admire the traditional Buddhist architecture and enjoy the panoramic views.

The peaceful atmosphere makes this a wonderful place to begin the day before continuing back towards the city.

Suggested time: 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM

Travel tip: Go in the morning when temperatures are generally more comfortable and visibility can be better.

Late Morning: My Khe Beach

From Son Tra, continue towards My Khe Beach, one of Da Nang’s most famous stretches of coastline.

The beach is known for its long strip of soft sand and clear blue water. Even if you are not planning to swim, it is worth stopping for a walk along the beach and taking in the view.

This is also a good opportunity to slow down for a little while. After exploring Son Tra Peninsula, a short beach walk or Vietnamese coffee break makes a refreshing change of pace.

Suggested time: 10:15 AM – 11:00 AM

Late Morning / Lunch: Explore a Local Market

Next, experience a more local side of Da Nang with a visit to one of the city’s markets.

A market is a great place to see everyday life in Da Nang, browse local products and discover Vietnamese street food.

Depending on your interests, you can look for fresh tropical fruit, local snacks, dried seafood, Vietnamese coffee, souvenirs and traditional dishes.

For lunch, this is an excellent opportunity to try some local specialties. Look out for dishes such as mi Quang, banh xeo, bun cha ca or fresh Vietnamese seafood.

Suggested time: 11:15 AM – 12:45 PM

Afternoon: Da Nang Pink Church

After lunch, head into the city centre to see one of Da Nang’s most distinctive buildings — the Da Nang Cathedral, often called the Pink Church.

The church is particularly recognizable because of its soft pink exterior and tall central tower.

It is a quick but worthwhile stop for photographs and a chance to see another side of Da Nang’s architectural history.

Suggested time: 1:00 PM – 1:30 PM

Afternoon: Wonder Park

Continue your city exploration with a stop at Wonder Park.

This is a more relaxed part of the itinerary and can be particularly enjoyable if you are traveling with children or simply want to add something different to your day.

Take some time to explore, take photographs and enjoy the surroundings before heading towards the Han River.

Late Afternoon: Dragon Bridge

No visit to Da Nang is complete without seeing the famous Dragon Bridge.

The bridge crosses the Han River and has become one of the symbols of modern Da Nang.

During the daytime, you can walk around the riverfront and admire the dragon-shaped structure from different viewpoints.

If your schedule allows you to stay into the evening, the atmosphere becomes even more impressive when the bridge is illuminated.

On selected evenings, the Dragon Bridge is also famous for its fire and water performance, so check the current schedule if you want to see the show.

Evening: Han River Waterfront

Finish your full day in Da Nang with a relaxed walk along the Han River waterfront.

This is one of my favorite ways to end a day in the city. The river, bridges and surrounding buildings create a completely different atmosphere as the sun goes down.

Take a walk, stop for a Vietnamese coffee or enjoy dinner at one of the many restaurants around the city centre.

If you have energy left, the riverside is also a great place to continue exploring Da Nang after dark.

A Few Tips for Your Da Nang Day Trip

Start early. Son Tra Peninsula is best enjoyed before the hottest part of the day.

Bring water and sun protection. Da Nang can be hot and sunny, particularly around the middle of the day.

Wear comfortable shoes. Although most stops are easy to access, you will be walking and exploring throughout the day.

Leave some flexibility. You don’t need to rush from one attraction to another. Part of the charm of Da Nang is simply enjoying the beaches, coffee shops, riverfront and local streets along the way.

Consider staying into the evening. Da Nang’s bridges and Han River waterfront have a completely different atmosphere after sunset.

Why Spend a Day Exploring Da Nang?

What makes Da Nang special is the variety you can experience in a surprisingly short amount of time.

In a single day, you can stand beside a giant Buddhist statue overlooking the sea, walk along one of Vietnam’s best-known beaches, eat at a local market, photograph a beautiful pink church, explore the city and finish beside the Han River watching the lights come on across the skyline.

It is this combination of nature, culture, food, beaches and modern city life that makes Da Nang such an enjoyable destination.

If you have just one day in the city, this itinerary is a great way to experience many of the highlights without feeling like you have spent the entire day travelling between attractions.
